Time to Check Your Quarterly List

Posted on 02 Dec by debbye | No Comments

I am getting my life working with a smooth organizational rhythm, moving gracefully thru the inevitable ups and downs. Could your life use a little “rhythm”? Having a quarterly list and/or reminder in your planner (paper or electronic) can be a great way to eliminate stress and stay caught up on some important “Life Rhythms”.

This all started because I needed to remember when it was time to get a fresh mascara! Now you may not be aware (or even care) that mascara preventives only last 3 months, but I did. I wanted a way to remember when I should get a new one. Finally the idea to change on the quarterly business dates clicked for me.

I made a list of other things that needed to be done on a quarterly basis. Now I am organized with a way to remember to get them tended to with the right frequency. I use 15 June, 15 Sept, 15 Dec and 15 March because they are key dates for my business, but any dates spaced every 3 months will work. Choose the dates that are best for you, but I’m setting up reminders in my Tips.com to keep you on track effortlessly.

SMARTcut(TM) Tip: I use my computer calendar reminders. You could also use a colored “DOT” (highlighter or sticker) in your paper planner as a reminder to check your “TO DO” list.

Here are some items I put on my checklist to complete on a quarterly basis.

1. Buy a new mascara.

2. Change my car’s oil. For the longest time I wished there was an oil change business that sent me a reminder. Now I have just determined that on my quarterly dates I will keep this on my “To Do List”.

3. Get a new toothbrush. My dental hygienist told me I needed to replace my toothbrushes every 3 months. So I added one more little thing to my list. I keep a supply on hand so it is no trouble. It was just hard to keep track of! By the way, you also need to replace it a few days after beginning an antibiotic so you don’t re-infect yourself.

4. Change air filters. Finally I realized that I could also change the air filters on our heating and cooling systems on this same cycle.

5. If you make quarterly IRS payments add that to your list too!You may have other things around your home or office that will also work on this cycle.

I find this little technique very helpful to make it easier for me to keep track of these recurring tasks. Are you looking for more help for keeping up with life?
