“Let it Roll!”

Posted on 22 Apr by debbye | No Comments

Protecting your work and family time is critical to the “home-preneur,” so it is not uncommon to hear “Let it roll!” when our phone rings. This means that we have chosen to respond to this call at a more opportune time.

telephoneI learned not to answer a business call at dinner time or when in the middle of a “situtaion” with a young child. It wasn’t serving me, my family, and certianly not my customer well to be less than optimal for thier call.

It was smarter to let my Voice Mail take the message and return the call later. In fact, the National Association or Professional Organizers says that it is more efficient to return calls than answer each ring!

The same philosophy can be used when it comes to controlling the interruptions of email. Consider setting some “off peak” times daily to check your messages instead of jumping to every delivery. If you can’t keep from being tempted, turn off the “ringer” or close your program while you are in work (or family time) mode.

Have you got other SMARTcuts(TM) for saving yourself from E-Mail quick sand? I’d love for you to share them!
